2010 BADGER MOUNTAIN RANGE WAR RESULTS!! Print E-mail

Seventy-one shooters at THE 2010 BADGER MOUNTAIN RANGE WAR  enjoyed near perfect weather: clear skies, mountain temps and usually a little breeze - except on day 2 when the Black Powder Posse shot into the Saloon.  After sign-in, posse sign-up & socializing, we started the Shooters' Meeting on time with the Pledge and the National Anthem (Thanks, Gideon!), and then scattered to our respective stages to let the fun begin.

After six stages Saturday, Tincup Al got us warmed up with some cowboy tunes in a pre-prandial concert.  Then came the Ranch's fine & generous steak dinner, followed by a visit from General George Patton (aka Gideon Walker).  It was a stunning rendition and a great speech!  Folks, there are good men and women out there doing the tough job of making sure we have the security and freedom that makes events like Cowboy Action Shooting possible.  They put their lives on the line for our Liberties; it is our equal responsibility to guard those Liberties at home, for all citizens.  General Patton strode from the stage and Tincup Al was back to lighten the atmosphere for our listening and dancing pleasure.

Sunday we got an early start with a brief Shooters' Meeting at 8:30.  Everyone shot about 4 stages, then broke for lunch at 11:00, then at 12:00 finished the last two stages of the main match.  Side matches of speed pistol, rifle, SxS & '97, both men's and ladies' were starting even as the last Posse finished shooting.   Awards were held in the Hayman Building immediately afterwards, including drawings for numerous giveaways.  May thanks to our sponsors Aspen Filly and This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. No event like this magically occurs without the work and contributions of many hands.  First and foremost I would like to thank Brenda, Jaimie, and Randy and the whole M Lazy C staff for their hard work, the great meals and their many years of support, and for allowing us to have a fantastic shooting range on their property!  Next, our Match Director, Kiowa Kid, ably assisted by Painted Filly, for the excellent stage writing, for side matches, creating the Shooters' Books and clean match trophies - and the hundred other jobs that make a successful match.  Bayou Bob had the headache job of trophy aquisition - and not knowing how many, or what categories, or how deep until a week before the match.....one hell of a job, Bob!  We had quite a gang at Match set-up on Friday:  Kiowa Kid, WT Slick, Rosita Gambler, Whiskey James, Gideon Wlker, Texas Tumbleweed, Gardner Kid & yours truly.  Thanks also to Texas Tumbleweed for bringing the water barrel both days and to Gideon Walker for the sound system.  LAST, but certainly not least in MY book, CALICO CASS deserves everyone's appreciation for data entry on scores.  With 71 shooters on 12 stages, that is 2,523 separate entries of data - all completed about an hour before the side matches were done!

Our biggest thank you of all goes to everyone who chose to come to our match - local club members and visitors from near and far.  I believe Steel Dust Dan and Jacobite Jack travelled the most to attend - they were in Colorado Springs when they learned of the match, drove home to Amarillo, Texas (it's a whole 'nuther country) to collect their guns and outfits and were back in time for the match.

And now, what you all have been waiting for, Match results by.....
