The ‘Colorado Cowboys’ are a SASS affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting club, based on the M Lazy C Ranch in the Colorado Rockies.   Cowboy Action is a shooting sport in which competitors dress in old west garb and shoot 2 single action pistols, a lever action (or pump action) rifle in a pistol caliber, and a shotgun – all of which are representative of firearms used in the Old West.  These are timed events, with a 5 second penalty for missing targets and a 10 second penalty for “procedurals.”  The emphasis in Cowboy Action is on SAFETY first, and FUN second.

Our range is dedicated to the Club and consists of six bermed stages, with the town of “Hayman” built as permanent props.  All of our buildings are three dimensional.  After each match the steel targets remain in place for club members who wish to practice between matches.  For practice sessions, please call ahead the day before (Ranch, 1-719-748-3398 or Jamie's cell, 1-719-237-5674) and sign-in at the General Store is required.

Our members range from about 10 years old to over 70.  There is no hard and fast lower age limit – participation by ANYONE, regardless of age, depends on demonstrating an ability to handle firearms safely and to follow the strict safety rules we use in Cowboy Action Shooting.
